TP Mazembe owner Moise Katumbi has rallied the team’s fans to come out in large numbers and support the team ahead of their Africa Football League (AFL) campaign. Mazembe kick off their campaign in the quarter finals against Tunisian giants Esperance.

Katumbi says the team is determined to rake in success in the AFL, especially after they made it into the group stages of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League with an emphatic 5-0 aggregate victory over Malawi’s Nyasa Big Bullets.

Speaking after the 4-0 home win over Bullets Katumbi said the qualification was dedicated to the fans who supported the team all through, and now wants them to do the same in the AFL.

“I want to say thank you to all our supporters. Your discipline and dedication has brought us where we are. You did well to support the team in the Champions League and we managed to move forward. This qualification is yours because of your unwavering support,” Katumbi said in an address to the team’s fans.

He added; “I want to now urge you to continue supporting the team as we prepare for the African Football League and again, we are optimistic that we will do well with your support. This is a big thing for us and we also want to move forward.”

Mazembe have shown some good improvement from last season, where they were thrown out of the Champions League after losing on penalties to Uganda’s Vipers. They dropped to the Confederation Cup, where they failed to make it off the group stages.
