At his age, Cherifia is one of the most experienced players not just at Esperance but also at the Tunisia national team.
It is therefore not a surprise that he captains both teams. He has played 368 matches for Esperance which is a club record since he joined in 2009.
He has had plenty of success with Esperance since that time including two CAF Champions League trophies in 2018 and 2019.
Cherifa ranks among the top players in Tunisia who have won the league title having amassed ten titles with Esperance.
He ranks second to only another Esperance legend Khalil Chemmam who won 12 titles with the Tunisian giants before he retired.
At the national team level, he has played 25times. The first time he was called was in 2018 after earning a call-up to the preliminary squad ahead of that year’s World Cup in Russia but did not make the final squad.
