Platinum tickets  for the opening match of the inaugural African Football League (AFL) tournament between Simba and Egyptian giants Al-Ahly have sold-out.

The match will be played at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium. Platinum ticket sales retail at Tsh.200,000 (approximately $85) and are highly sort after as they come with several perks.

According to Simba SC Assistant Operations Officer, platinum ticket holders are entitled to several advantages.

“First they are picked by bus from a designated venue and driven to the stadium. While at the stadium, they are offered complimentary food and drinks while they enjoy the match,” he said.

Ticket sales for the match started four days ago and already thousands of fans have already grabbed theirs.

The cheapest ticket goes for TZS 7,000 (equivalent to $3) for those sitting at the Orange section of the stadium.  Other tickets cost TZS 10,000 ($5), TZS 30,000 and  ($15), TZS 40,000 ($19) for VIP sections of the stadium.

Meanwhile the club last week received TZS 2billion from clothes company  Sandaland who are the kit sponsors for the team in the AFL.

The company has also printed 10,000 replica limited edition replica jerseys to be sold to fans during the tournament.

Simba are the only team from the East Africa region taking part in the AFL tournament.
